The 2014-15 season is almost over and it’s down to Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Warriors are having a historic season, but they already lost assistant head coach Alvin Gentry to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Gentry leaves Steph Curry to coach Anthony Davis, the next young superstar that is bound to take over the league sometime soon. Gentry had some success as a head coach in Phoenix and now will get another chance with the Pelicans.
Gentry’s departure opens up a position for the Warriors and they are in no hurry to fill it. However, it looks like one coach has already expressed interest in replacing Gentry next season. According to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports, Brian Shaw would like to join the coaching staff as an associate head coach next season:
Former Nuggets coach Brian Shaw is interested in replacing Gentry as the Warriors associate head coach, a source told Yahoo Sports. Shaw is an Oakland native who attended Warriors practice on Saturday. The Shaw family recently moved back to their Oakland Hills home.
Shaw is an Oakland native, so a job with the Warriors would make sense for him. He played 14 seasons in the NBA and won three championships as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Shaw briefly played for the Warriors in the 1997-98 season, but only appeared in 39 games.
Shaw got his coaching start under the tutulege of Phil Jackson, so he does have something in common with head coach Steve Kerr. Both of them were valuable role players for Phil Jackson and played important roles on their way to several titles.
The Nuggets gave Shaw his first opportunity to be a head coach, but it didn’t turn out so well. Shaw went 56-85 during his year and a half stint with Denver and was fired before he could finish his second season.
I’m thinking we hire Blatt as our offensive coordinator . Lord knows he has to want out from under LaBrons rule. Blatt was supposed to bring in a passing , player movement offense and LaBron shut him down at every turn. Come on Blatt. The Warriors would still love to have what you bring …….and how does a championship ring sound ?
Shaw can be interested if he likes, but why would the Warriors even consider this? His offensive philosophy is the opposite of what has made the Warriors so successful this year, and his ability to relate to players (a Gentry strength) was at best questionable.
