This game will field four of the five top three point shooters from last season. We’ll find out how the “Splash Brothers” will play tonight after their Splash 72 performance. The Blazers were coming off a disappointing loss against the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors would be without David Lee again who hopes to return in time for Wednesday’s showdown with the Los Angeles Clippers. In case you missed the game, here is our instant recap:

1st Quarter

The Warriors went to battle with the same starting five as the first two games. Portland won the opening tip and scored first. Curry, Thompson, and Draymond Green each took turns missing their first shots. The Warriors showed off their defense by refusing to allow easy baskets in the paint. Curry got his first three-point attempt to go and the Warriors took their first lead at 5-3. Damian Lillard with a strong move to the hoop but Bogut didn’t budge and blocked him at the basket. At the first timeout (7:18 remaining), the Warriors have four blocks from three players: Green, Bogut, and Thompson. Of the first 16 points, the “Splash Brothers” have scored all of them; each player has 8. Barnes got involved knocking down a three-pointer. The Warriors stretched their lead to 19-9. The “Splash Brothers” have not missed a beat and had taken control of the entire game. Andre Iguodala and Marreese Speights made their way to the floor. There was a choppy flow to the game due to Portland’s inability to penetrate. With the quarter in the books, the Warriors had 21 from the Curry and Thompson. Golden State led 30-22.

2nd Quarter

Speights has been a crucial player, coming on to the floor and filling in for David Lee. His hustle led to an alley-oop lay in. The second quarter began with the reserves: Festus Ezeli, Speights Iggy, Leandro Barbosa, and Shaun Livingston. Blazers weren’t stopping the penetration allowing the Warriors to get good looks. Great defense from Ezeli who got a block on Thomas Robinson which led to a transition Iguodala dunk. The reserves were allowing the “Splash Brothers” to receive an adequate break as they kept the lead. The Blazers began to get hot and Kerr brought back the starters. Golden State has been stuck on offense without any shots falling since the Iggy dunk. Thompson got two free throws and Curry dropped in a shot to continue where they left off. Curry and Bogut run a two man game which was finished off by Curry lobbing the ball to Bogut for an alley-oop jam. The Warriors bigs have done a great job pestering LaMarcus Aldridge but he hit a long mid range jumper over Bogut to cut the deficit to three. Although Green lost the ball, his attempt to recover the turnover was hilarious. Thompson had 20 points to lead all scorers and the Warriors hold a three point lead at 51-48.

3rd Quarter

Bogut and Lopez attack one another and both grab a score for their respective teams. Both teams came out very aggressive looking for any opening to pull away. Green slid over on an open Robin Lopez to take away a scoring attempt by taking the charge. Curry had Aldridge on him, called off a screen, and pulled up in for an easy two. Halfway through the third, it was all Curry as Thompson has not even attempted a shot. The Warriors have been great limiting Lillard to 2-of-11 shooting for only seven points. Thompson’s first shot attempt was right wing three-point attempt which was no good. The Curry took a breather with a 64-60 lead with a little under four minutes to play. Thompson attempted two more shots but they did not sink either. Lillard’s confidence began to grow as he tied the game with a jumper at 64-64. Thompson still relentless and got a chip shot to fall to regain the lead. At the end of three, the score continued to remain tied up at 68.

4th Quarter

The Warriors found themselves in a tight matchup unlike their previous games. Barbosa got the Warriors going by scoring six straight. The game became a grind-it-out type of game and became sloppy. Both sides were called for illegal moving screens and turned the ball over to each other. Both teams have kept their superstars on the bench (Lillard and Aldridge for Blazers / Splash Brothers for Warriors). Iguodala responded to a Steve Blake three to tie it again at 76. The fouls and sloppy play has slowed down the scoring dramatically. Barbosa stepped up in the third by making a three to take back the lead. The lead has been in the middle of a tug-of-war battle since the half. Bogut’s hustle led to his follow on a Curry missed floater. Thompson’s slow second half led to his frustration in which he took his anger out on a dunk to put Lopez on a poster. Thompson gave the Warriors a one point lead with a tough shot in the paint. The Blazers turned the ball over and the Warriors knocked down their free throws. The defense wins the Warriors the game.
