Since being drafted seventh overall by the Golden State Warriors in the 2009 NBA Draft, Steph Curry has blossomed into an elite talent. Some criticized the Warriors for taking the point guard out of Davidson, but those critics have quickly disappeared. Curry is about to enter his sixth season in the league, which promises to be his best one yet.

There is no doubt LeBron James is the best player on the planet, but who’s next in line? ESPN.com has ranked the 500 best players in the NBA for the fourth straight year and today they released six through 10. For a second consecutive season Steph Curry is ranked as the sixth best player in the league:

ESPN has yet to release their top five rankings, but it will be interesting to see who is ranked ahead of Curry and in what order. One name we won’t see is Kevin Durant, who was ranked eight on the list. While these rankings create a stir, it all won’t matter once the season starts. However, it is good to see Curry get the recognition he deserves.

After a phenomenal campaign last year, one could argue that Curry deserves to be higher on the list. However, Curry and the Warriors have bigger things to worry about. The Splash Brothers are poised for a breakout season and the Warriors only care about one thing: A Larry O’Brien trophy.
