During the Warriors’ media day, Shaun Livingston has been optimistic and aimed to return to the court at the start of the NBA’s regular season. He knew he would miss the preseason games as he is recovering from toe surgery. Livingston had surgery in mid-August and was expected to miss about 6-8 weeks.

While his Golden State Warriors career has not started yet, it looks like it’ll take some more time than he anticipated. According to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr doesn’t see Livingston ready for the opener:
Warriors coach Steve Kerr says its “highly doubtful” that guard @ShaunLivingston (toe) will play in the season-opener vs Kings 10/29.

Through seven games of the preseason, the “Splash Brothers” have been playing at a phenomenal level. After spending a summer with Team USA for the FIBA World Cup, the Warriors backcourt has not missed a beat. Nemanja Nedovic has been playing well in the preseason, which may be another reason Kerr does not want to rush Livingston back.
Coach Kerr has even gone to swapping Harrison Barnes with Andre Iguodala to help the second unit maintain a playmaker on the floor while Livingston is recovering. It will take some for Livingston to get acclimated and build some chemistry for his teammates, but the season is long and keeping him healthy down the stretch will be key.
