Curry shot

The Golden State Warriors have been in Los Angeles for about a week now and they have been enjoying their stay. Not only is the weather great, but the Warriors are now 3-0 in the pre-season and it came at the expense of the Clippers and Lakers. This time the Warriors had to travel to the Inland Empire to take on the Lakers, but the change of scenery did not seem to matter to the Warriors. They annihilated the Lakers 116-75 and Steve Kerr must be thrilled about his offense. The Warriors look like a team that has benefitted from playing together for a few years now and they are quickly picking up the offense. In case you missed the game, here is our instant recap:

1st Quarter:

Steph Curry silences the Ontario crowd with 10 extremely fast points and the Warriors quickly go up 14-2. Curry hit three staight 3-pointers and got fouled on one of them. Curr welcomes Harrison Barnes to the starting line-up with a sweet alley-oop pass and he threw it down.  The Warriors were scoring at will and the Lakers had no answer for them. Klay Thompson wanted to get in on the fun and had a four point play of his own. The Warriors were up 19 midway through the first quarter. Nothing went right for the Lakers in the first quarter, Wesley Johnson couldn’t convert an easy breakaway dunk. The Lakers finally built a little momentum in the final couple of minutes, but still found themselves unable to stop the Warriors offensive attack. Steve Kerr’s offense looked unstoppable, the Warriors put up 39 points in the first. The “Splash Brothers” combine for 22 points and the Warriors shot 71.4 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from beyond the arc.

2nd Quarter:

The Lakers get on the board quick, but the Warriors still led by 20. The Warriors looked like they were in mid-season form. The Warriors kept scoring and at Lakers could not keep up. Coach Kerr brought back his starters midway through the second and they kept their foot on the gas. Leandro Barbosa didn’t play in the first meeting against the Lakers, but made his presence felt with five points with about six minutes remaining in the second. Thompson kept shooting lights out, once again knocking down another 3-pointer and extending the Warriors lead. It sure felt that the “Splash Brothers” were competing with one another on who would be the leading score in the first half. Curry finished with 18 points, 5 dimes, and 5 boards. Thompson wasn’t far behind with 13 points of his own. At halftime, the Warriors led 63-36.

3rd Quarter:

New half, but more of same from the Warriors. They kept shooting and they kept going in. The Warriors had 70 points with almost 10 minutes remaining in the third quarter. Most of the points were coming from inside the paint and beyond the arc. Everyone was shooting the ball well, Lakers looked helpless on the defensive end. At this point, it seemed like the Warriors were trying to set a new pre-season record for points scored, they were simply the vastly superior team. This game turned into a three point party and the Lakers were not invited. With about four minutes remaining in the game, Curry leads a scorers with 25 points. Draymond Green and Marreese Speights are active late in the quarter and continue the offensive onslaught. Warriors are up 100-60.

4th Quarter:

The Warriors finally took the gas off the pedal in the fourth quarter. For the first 5 minutes of the quarter, they did not score. At this point, the game is not in question and the Warriors scored triple digits in three quarters. This offense looks good, still a work in progress, but it looks promising. Brandon Rush got the first points of the fourth quarter with six minutes left in the game. Nemanja Nedovic was late, but he joined the party with a three of his own. Most of the reserves were in the game at this point. The Warriors only score 16 points in the fourth, but it did not matter. Warriors win 116-75.
