The Golden State Warriors left Oracle Arena last night with a 107-99 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. The Dubs are now 6-2 and 3-1 at home. Klay Thompson had another great performance, he finished the game with 25 points and four rebounds. Steph Curry had somewhat of a rough game, only scoring 17 points, but it was all the Warriors needed.
The Nets were in the game the entire way and had opportunities to get it close as it came to an end of regulation. Former Warrior Jarret Jack was amazing last night, he scored 23 points on 10 of 10 shooting from the field and did it off the bench. However, it was not enough to get the Nets the road victory.
Why did the Warriors win this game? Here’s our three reasons they beat the Nets.
1. Turnovers
Yes, by now you must be tired of hearing about the Warriors and turnovers, but this time it’s a good thing. The Dubs only turned the ball over 11 times against the Nets and that performance will lead to many more victories. The New Orleans Pelicans are best in the league in taking care of the ball, they only average 10.7 turnovers per game, so the Warriors should aim for this number on a nightly basis.
The Nets were able to score 13 points off those turnovers. Curry had three turnovers last night, which was a team high, but at least it’s not near the 10 turnovers he had against the Suns. The Warriors have committed a total of 163 turnovers to start the season, but a lot has to do with learning a new offense, especially with an emphasis on ball movement.
Ultimately, if the Warriors take care of the ball, they are so strong offensively that it’s hard to beat them. That was proved yesterday, they took care of the ball and maintained their lead throughout the course of the game.
